"YOU HAVE TO GET LOST BEFORE YOU CAN BE FOUND."
Experience the hospitality and friendliness of a Local Pondo Lunch. Fill your belly with locally grown tasty food in a traditional Pondo home. Let the local guide explain the different foods, where they come from and their history. The guide will also tell you all about the customs around meals in a local home. You can expect to eat things like locally grown Amadumbe (similar to yams), Ubhatata (sweet potatoes), Isigwampa (wild spinach mixed with maze meal), potatoes, carrots, chicken (home reared), corn, Isidudu (pumpkin dish), local gravy, pap (maze meal), pot bread and more. Vegetarians are welcome.
MEAL AT MTENTU:
The local homestead where the meal takes place is around a 2km drive from or a nice walk from Mtentu Lodge. A guide will meet you at the lodge and can either guide you in your own vehicle or show you the way to walk.
MEAL DURING CASINO - MTENTU HIKE:
At your half way point the guide will take you for lunch in a local Pondo Village. If you are riding horses then the horse guide and your horses will meet you here.
